SAM Cloud is a service provided and operated by Raynet for License Management, similar to the Technology Catalog. You do not install, start or run any part of SAM Cloud. To use it, you only set up the SAM Cloud connection in your Raynet One instance, as described below. SAM Cloud is required for the essential License Management workflows, such as purchase capture and calculation rules. In the wizards and in the License Management topics, the work that SAM Cloud does for you is called SAM AI, for example when SAM AI extracts the data of a purchase document. SAM AI is not a separate product: it is the capability you get when the SAM Cloud connection is set up.
SAM Cloud provides the following components to Raynet One:
•Contract Analyzer: Parses purchase and agreement documents, and makes the license-relevant data available in the wizard for review. Entered text is not processed by the Contract Analyzer but through the AI Chat connection.
•Rule expression generation: Generates the rule expression of a calculation rule from its description. See Calculation rule.
•Communication with Codex: Provides the licensing knowledge of Codex to Raynet One, for example the Codex description of a calculation rule.
The Contract Analyzer is used by the input methods Import from file and Import from files. It reads the purchase or agreement document and extracts the data it contains. For a purchase, these are the document details and parties, and for each product row the product, license model, license metric, quantity, prices and validity period. For an agreement, these are the manufacturer and the products, which are used to link the agreement to commercial products; an agreement has no license metric. The wizard fills these values into its fields, so that you only review and correct them before the purchase or agreement is created.
What to expect from the extraction:
•Only what the document states: Values are taken as printed. Prices, totals, tax and discounts are not calculated, and values that are not in the document stay empty or 0. A product row with negative amounts, such as a credit note, is extracted as a purchase item.
•Discounts: A discount printed with the data of a product row, for example in a discount column, is applied to that purchase item. A discount printed with the general purchase data, for example together with the subtotal, tax and total, applies to the whole purchase.
•Document type: The Contract Analyzer detects whether a document is a purchase or an agreement. In Import from files, you can also set the document type per file.
•License model: If no license model can be identified, Perpetual is set.
•License metric: This applies to purchases only. If the document does not state a license metric, or states one that Raynet One does not support, Raynet One determines the metric of the matched product. If that is not possible either, the license metric Custom is set. No message is shown for this. Review these items: select a supported metric if one applies, or use the Search button next to License metric to determine the metric of the matched product. See Custom metric.
•Confidence: The confidence score shown for each purchase item rates how closely the item matches the product found in the Technology Catalog. Check items with a low score especially carefully against the document.
The extraction quality depends on the document. Always review the extracted values before you create the purchase or agreement.
For general information on setting up and editing connections, see Connection Details and Set up a connection.
Go to Configuration > Connections > AI+Chat and click Set up... on the SAM Cloud card, or Edit... if it is already configured. Enter the following settings:
Setting |
Required |
Description |
|---|---|---|
