OS prerequisites and requirements

Before you can run and explore Raynet One, you must configure and update your operating system accordingly. Generally, you can access and run the platform both on local and virtual machines, independent from your OS choice (Windows, macOS or Linux/Unix). This is because Raynet One is available online for all devices with a Linux docker environment.

Setup and runner installation

If you want to access and run Raynet One, your working environment must meet the following prerequisites and requirements:

The environment must be able to run Linux docker containers (available on Docker website).

Example deployment templates will be also available.

The runner machine must cryptographically trust all server connection certificates (PKI).

For Raynet One runner installation (Windows)

OS: Windows 10 x64 or higher, Windows Server and Windows Server Core 2012 x64 or higher, Nano Server Version 1808 x64 or higher.

Microsoft .NET runtime or ASP.NET Core hosting bundle package 8.0 or greater must be installed (download page)

For Raynet One runner installation (Non-Windows)

The environment must be able to run Linux docker containers because Non-Windows runners are only available as Linux docker images.

For Oracle inventory and the responsible plugin:

The Windows runner's Oracle plugin needs to have the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on the runner's machine (Java SE6 or higher).

In order to execute Oracle Database Feature Usage Statistics audit scripts, you need to install SQL*Plus on the runner's machine.

The non-Windows runner docker image does have prerequisites already preinstalled (including Java, except SQL*Plus).

Be aware:
If you install runner prerequisites, such as the JRE, after runner installation, you need to restart the runner. The runner captures operating system details at start-up. Restarting the runner ensures an up-to-date view on the operating system environment, for example the environment variables. Either restart the runner's machine completely or just its Windows service.
