Before you can start your first discovery run, valid credentials for relevant operating systems and Oracle databases are required. This ensures you can really access and scan your IT assets. Check the Credentials chapter to understand the basics.
Here are some instructions on how to add Windows credentials. The process is similar across all credential types.
1.In the sidebar menu, navigate to the Credentials view in the Configuration workspace.
2.Click on Add new credentials to open the wizard for adding new user credentials.
3.Select the Windows credential type and click Next to proceed.
4.Define the name and select the site in the Basic settings step. Click on Next to proceed.
5.Optionally, enter the RegEx and IP range definitions under Pattern matching. Click on Next to proceed.
•Choose to either use the Windows credentials attached to the runner Windows service or provide user name and password. After that, click on Next to proceed.
I have chosen to provide the username and password.
6.Verify the displayed settings with your intended ones. If you want to revise the settings, click on the Back button to return to previous steps. Finally, click on Create to proceed. Your credentials will be added.
7.You are briefly directed to the Progress step. Then, you are directed to the displayed Finished step. On successful credentials addition, the green checkmark icon is shown with the confirmatory text. Click on Finish to finalize the process. Alternatively you can also change to the credentials details view by clicking on View details. In any case, your new credentials are now listed in the Credentials view.
You have successfully added new credentials to the system. In future discovery and inventory jobs, the new credentials can be selected to authenticate against devices, services or endpoints. Assess which credential types you truly need and continue to add all remaining credentials. Remember to revise the set of credentials in the future in case of changes in your IT landscape.
