The Wave Templates page in Configuration allows you to define reusable rollout wave configurations. A wave template captures a complete wave setup — including the wave grid and reactive throttle settings — that can be applied when configuring a deployment in the deployment wizard. Templates save time and promote consistency across deployments by eliminating the need to reconfigure waves from scratch each time.
Access: Open Configuration > Endpoint Management > Wave Templates in the left sidebar.
Template List
The template list shows all defined wave templates. Each entry displays the template name and a summary of the configured waves. Use the list to review existing templates, create new ones, or remove templates that are no longer needed.
Creating a Wave Template
To create a new wave template, use the Add template action. The wizard guides you through two steps: entering a name for the template, and configuring the wave definitions.
Step 1 — Basic settings
Enter a descriptive Name that identifies the template when it is selected during deployment. Template names must be unique.
Step 2 — Wave definitions
Define the individual waves that make up the rollout. Each wave is shown as a card that you can configure independently. The following sizing modes are available for each wave:
•By count: Assigns a fixed number of devices to the wave. Specify the number in the Device count field.
•By percentage: Assigns a percentage of the total deployment target to the wave. Specify the value in the Percentage field.
•By explicit selection: Allows you to hand-pick the exact devices that belong to this wave. Select the Select... button to open the device picker, then select the devices to include. The field shows the count of currently selected devices. Devices assigned to an earlier wave with explicit selection are not available to later waves.
•By explicit resource group: Assigns all devices belonging to one or more resource groups to this wave. Select the Browse resource groups... button to choose the resource groups to include. At deployment time, all devices that are members of the selected groups are included in this wave.
•Remainder (automatic): The final wave receives all devices that were not explicitly assigned to any earlier wave. A template always ends with a Remainder wave.
Expand the Advanced settings section within each wave card to configure the advance and halt thresholds, quorum values, max duration, and timeout policy. For a description of these advanced settings, see Rollout Waves.
Save the template to make it available for selection in the deployment wizard. A saved template can be edited at any time; changes do not affect deployments that have already started using the template.
Applying a Wave Template
When configuring a deployment in the deployment wizard, enable the Enable rollout waves toggle and select Load template to choose from the available wave templates. Selecting a template populates the wave configuration fields with the template values. You can adjust individual settings after loading the template without affecting the saved template definition.
