The runner can be in one of multiple states depending on deployment progress or the system's health. The runner's state is indicated by the icon in the Runners list entry. These are the defined runner states.
Runner not configured state
The runner has not yet been connected to the system. Every runner entry starts in this state. It changes once the first runner is deployed with the associated enrollment token and it successfully establishes a connection to the server.
Active runner connection state
The runner is currently connected to the system. It has negotiated and configured the communication parameters with the server. The system does periodically check the connection's health. This state may change if the connection to the runner is disrupted.
Disconnected runner state
The runner is disconnected from the system. It was connected at some point and has configured the communication. This state will change if the runner has reestablished the connection to the server.
