Layer

The layer sections contain critical information used by the layering engine to properly merge the layers.

Type

This read-only field shows the type of the layer. PackLayering can open all types of layers, but due to the nature of resources only application layers are properly supported by the editors.

 

ID

This is the internal ID of a layer. In most cases you should not change it in case a change is required the button {...} ensures that a new, globally unique identifier is assigned to the current layer.

 

OS Layer ID

This is the ID of the parent layer. Layers must be always targeting a concrete OS layer. In order to read its ID, press Import... button and select another LAYPKG archive, containing your exported OS layer. For more information about exporting layers, refer to chapter Working with PackLayering.

 

Parent Package

This is the ID of the parent package. In order to read its ID, press Import... button and select another LAYPKG archive, containing your exported OS layer. For more information about exporting layers, refer to chapter Working with PackLayering.
