Inspect and edit a connection

Occasionally, you need to inspect and adapt your connection settings. Relevant changes in your IT landscape and workflows may require new parameters. In this case, there is no need to start all over. Instead, you can compare an existing connection and change single parameters in its configuration with a few clicks.

In this chapter, you inspect and edit the Technology Catalog connection that you set up in the previous chapter.

The Timeout should be adjusted on changes in network virtualization, the length of network paths, or computational and bandwidth traffic load on network nodes. The Maximum attempts parameter is relevant for platform server maintenance only. The update intervals define the responsiveness of data provision. Shorter intervals benefit you, but longer ones benefit overall service availability. The community aspect is relevant as well as the contribution quality. The Upload fingerprints parameter depends on management decisions (see the explanation on data sources).

To get started, follow the step-by-step instructions.

1.Go to the Configuration workspace and click Connections in the sidebar menu.

2.Open the Technology Catalog tab. The card of the connection shows its state (Active or Inactive) and its current settings. The API key is masked; click the settings table to reveal it for a few seconds.

3.Click Edit... on the card. The Edit integration dialog opens. Inside of it, you can change the service URL, the API key, the Activated state and the advanced settings. Perform any needed changes and confirm them via Save.

Validation errors when saving

If the configuration you entered is structurally invalid, the system rejects the save operation and displays a clear validation error message. The error message indicates that the configuration structure is incorrect and must be corrected before saving. This is expected behavior: no data is changed, and the edit dialog remains open so you can review and correct the invalid values.

Review the field values highlighted in the dialog, correct the invalid entries, and click Save again.

1.You are returned to the card. The changes are applied now. Verify that the displayed settings match your expectation.

2.To deactivate the connection without deleting its configuration, clear the Activated check box in the Edit... dialog and save. The card then shows the state Inactive.
