Manual import by file

Various objects can be imported into the database from files in a batch-processing style. Instead of the overly informational approach of clicking through the wizards of the web interface, use carefully reviewed files.

Object details can be provided in simple forms. The supported import file formats are .csv, .xls and .xlsx. They are known for their simple structure.

In the sub chapters, all object import mechanisms which support file loading are described.

.csv file format

This file format is a concatenation of lines further divided by separation character. A line represents an object. These files are easily generated by programs, aiding you as a broad but bare-bones device registry interface format.

.xls file format

This file format is a computation data table format by Microsoft. It was designed to provide easy means of data specification and computation on data grids. The standard office tool working with this file format is Microsoft Excel. User friendly office programs empower you to create and maintain the files, also called stylesheets.
