Device Deduplication > Strategy Selection in the Import Wizard

When importing a template bundle that contains both a classic Standardized Data Transformation task and a new Device Deduplication task, the import wizard displays an additional Strategy step. This step determines which pipeline provides the data that downstream reports and dashboards read from.

The Strategy step appears between the Automation step and the Summary step in the wizard. It is only shown when the selected template includes both pipeline types.

Available Strategies

Standardized Data Transformation (Classic)

Uses the existing ETL-based transformation pipeline. Choose this option when migrating from an older setup or when you want to continue using the proven transformation logic. The classic pipeline processes data through the standard transformation task and writes the result to the shared dataset used by reports and dashboards.

All existing reports and tasks built on the Standardized Data Transformation continue to function exactly as before when this strategy is selected.

Device Deduplication (New)

Uses the new Deduplicator connector as the primary data source. This strategy is recommended for new installations. It provides improved cross-source duplicate detection and record merging compared to the classic pipeline.

When this strategy is selected, the Deduplicator connector task writes its output to the shared dataset, and the classic transformation task retains its own separate output. Full backwards compatibility is maintained — no changes to existing reports or scheduled tasks are required.

Changing the Strategy after Import

The strategy can be changed at any time by re-importing the template bundle and selecting the desired option in the Strategy step. To apply the strategy switch, you must activate the Overwrite existing reports, dashboards, tasks and transformations option on the Template page of the import wizard. The output dataset assignment is updated accordingly on the next run of the affected tasks.
