Salesforce Marketing Cloud

Salesforce Marketing Cloud provides a suite of tools that enable organizations to manage customer engagement across a complete customer journey from marketing and sales to commerce and service.

 

Marketing Cloud helps to get to know customers, personalize messages with relevant data, and engage with the customers across touch points.

 

To provide these solutions, Marketing Cloud logs a wealth of data about customer interactions in application databases. Much of this data is accessible via the Marketing Cloud API.

 

The Marketing Cloud offers two APIs that share a common authentication mechanism based on OAuth2:

The REST API exposes broader access to Marketing Cloud capabilities.

The SOAP API provides comprehensive access to most email functionality.

 

To use either API a client ID and secret must be obtained from Marketing Cloud > Installed Packages. The APIs do not have full parity and it might be necessary to use both, the SOAP and the REST API, to accomplish business goals.
