Resource groups in Raynet One support dynamic device assignment through rule sets, allowing devices to be grouped automatically based on defined conditions. The Dynamic device assignment tab on the resource group detail page provides access to this functionality.
Dynamic device assignment for resource groups follows the same rule-based approach as for organization units, with one key difference: rule sets and rules in resource groups do not require a priority or target field. Their targets are by default set to the resource groups they were created in. Only the name and description are required when creating a rule set or rule in this context.

Default rule set
When a new resource group is created, an empty default rule set is automatically created for it. This default rule set is used to store automatically created rules.
Automatic rules are created when you assign an entity of one of the following types to a resource group: Organization Unit, Scope, or Network. During the assignment wizard, you are asked whether related devices should be inherited from the entity into the resource group. If you select Inherit, a new rule is automatically added to the default rule set and the matching devices are assigned to the resource group.
When an entity (organization unit, scope, or network) is removed from the resource group and devices were inherited from it, the corresponding devices are automatically removed from the resource group.
Accessing the Dynamic device assignment tab
1.Navigate to Configuration in the sidebar menu.
2.Select Resource groups from the left-hand menu.
3.Click the name of the resource group you want to configure.
4.On the resource group detail page, select the Dynamic device assignment tab.
Creating a rule set
1.On the Dynamic device assignment tab, click the Add rule set button.
2.Enter a Name and, optionally, a Description for the rule set.
3.Click Save to create the rule set.
Creating rules within a rule set
1.Select the rule set you want to configure by clicking its name on the Dynamic device assignment tab.
2.Go to the Rules tab and click the Add rule button.
3.Enter a Name and, optionally, a Description for the rule.
4.Define one or more Conditions. All conditions in a rule must be satisfied for a device to match. The available condition types are: network or CIDR range, hostname pattern, domain name, tag, operating system, installed package, hardware property, scope, and organization unit.
5.Click Save to create the rule.

Editing and deleting rule sets and rules
•To edit a rule set: Go to the Dynamic device assignment tab on the resource group detail page, click on the rule set name, and then click Edit.
•To edit a rule: Go to the Rules tab on the rule set details page, click on the specific rule, and then click Edit.
•To delete a rule set: Go to the Dynamic device assignment tab on the resource group, select the rule sets to delete, and click the Remove rule set button.
•To delete a rule: Go to the Rules tab on the rule set details page, select the rules to delete, and click the Remove rule button.
