Regular expressions

This product works with a lot of information, such as device names and IP addresses. Each piece of data has a representation in the database, many of which are structured according to rules or patterns. Understanding the information requires a distinct way to read it. Regular expressions (short: regex) describe the structure of information, restricted to flat and basic rules.

Use of regular expressions in Raynet One

The following places in the product allow you to specify regular expressions for information processing.

The Pattern matching step of the Add credentials wizard. The text highlighted in blue is the pattern used to filter the devices of the selected site. Only devices whose name matches the provided regular expression will be candidates for the access credentials. This allows for dynamic credential assignment strategies.

Network- or OU-assigned credentials

After addition of credentials, they can be assigned to networks and organization units in a regular-expression relation. Similarly to site-assignment, only matched devices are candidates for the credentials.
