RayFlow is a sophisticated workflow tool with the ability to support diverse workflow processes under the area of software management. RayFlow interprets a workflow as a sequence of phases which in turn represents a process; these phases can consist of one or more tasks within it. Users have the ability to define what a task means in their workflow process and what properties they do hold. RayFlow currently supports properties of the type text, drop-down menu and drop-down menu with possibility to select multiple options.
For this document, a packaging workflow process is taken as an example. In this packaging workflow process, the first phase is the package order or data entry phase. This phase acts as an entry point for an individual task in the defined workflow process. This phase can directly be accessed via the New order tile on the dashboard.
Using the RayFlow web server interface, a user is given permission to access and edit tasks in this phase. When such user clicks upon the New order tile, a form with list of user defined property fields is shown. This form can consist of fields of type optional and mandatory. Mandatory fields are always highlighted in light pink color and a user must provide an input for them to proceed further. Until values for all the mandatory fields are provided, the Accept button in the command bar is disabled, prohibiting the user to save the changes and consequently open the task in the next phase.
